When Peruvian company Rivers & Forest Expeditions launches its new 32-passenger upscale river cruise vessel, the R&F Amazonas, on the Peruvian Amazon this spring, it will become the latest company to make a run at the high-end consumer on this exotic waterway.
Launching in April, the Amazonas will feature 16 suites divided into four categories, ranging from a junior suite with no windows on the upper level of the ship, to a presidential suite with sweeping views at the bow of the ship. There will also be a panoramic dining room, a bar and lounge, an observation deck, and a spa and jacuzzi onboard.
Rivers & Forest Expeditions aims to teach passengers about the region’s flora and fauna as well as the customs of tribal communities in the Peruvian Amazon. The vessel will sail a three-day program departing on Wednesdays and a four-day program departing Saturdays, beginning in April. It is also available for customizable departures and full-ship charters.
Rates start at $1,950 for a three-day cruise in the junior suite and go up to $5,880 for a four-day cruise in the presidential suite. Rates are per person and based on double occupancy (there is a 25% additional single supplement). Children as young as six are allowed onboard and all children under the age of 13 receive a 20% discount off the standard fare. Gratuities are included in the price, as are all meals, wine with meals, excursions, tour guides, and entrance fees into the national reserves.
